Whichever name you prefer, here are two I've made. I made these a year and a half ago and never decided what to do with them. Keep, give away, sell....Anyway, just thought I'd let them out for air.The top one is a mixture of vintage-looking kid's prints, coordinating fun patterns and solids. The flags are small (about 3" long), double-sided and top-stitched.
The second garland is underwater-themed (mermaids, frogs and fish), with coordinating patterns and solids. The flags are about 7" long, double-sided but not top-stitched.
I made the bias tape for both of these myself before I knew there was such a thing as bias-tape maker. Now I know.
I finished each end with two long grosgrain ribbons that could be tied in a bow instead of extending the single strip of bias-tape. Seemed easier for hanging and looked cute.
I considered making other garlands for holidays, which I still think is a good idea, but have not gotten around to it.

Those are so fun! I have always loved the look of fabric banners like those, but I have yet to make one. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have tagged you! I hope you don't mind.
These are so fun and springy looking. What a great idea, and with the change of seasons around the corner, I can see a usage for these outdoors too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI like Renee's idea about using them outdoors...preferably in a spot where I see them when I look out a window. Another thing to make me smile!
ReplyDeleteHi! My children are sleeping and all I wanted to do was finish reading a book. Instead, I got online, stumbled upon your blog and have been reading and reading. I am amazed at your creativity!!! I've wanted to comment several times, but this project did me in. I love this pennent garland. Would you be interested in making one to sell? I just love these! If not, I understand, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks for all the fantastic ideas! After seeing all you do with your little ones, I need to get on the ball! :)
ReplyDeleteI fully match with whatever thing you have written.
