Peanut butter jars, revised edition

I noticed on Crafty Crow, today, another example of the peanut butter jar storage I had posted about here a few months ago. That reminded me to show you our updated version: peanut butter jars with lose-proof lids. I drilled a small hole through the side of the jar, near the top, and a hole in the center of the lid. I threaded a piece of an old shoelace (loss-prevention laces, I'm calling them) through each hole and knotted it on the inside. Ta da!
(Note: You could use any kind of lace, string or ribbon, keeping it short to avoid dangerous situations for babies.)

Update: For more detailed instructions and photos of the process, see my post at Blissful Kids.

  1. So imaginative! I'm going to set out my little craft drill so I'll be ready next time I empty a jar. Hanging them opens up another realm of possibilities.

  6. how do you get that rancid peanut butter smell out? no matter how much I wash, sometimes it still lingers, and I end up putting the whole thing in the recycle bin.

  9. Be careful to wash the jars VERY THOROUGHLY, or consider using another type of jar if the toys you store in them have the possibility of coming into contact with a child who has a severe nut allergy.

  11. I have always had a small love affair with peanut butter jars - mine never seem to go to waste. The funny thing is that we only go through about two a year, so I could organize my collections slowly lol

Love the shoelace thing - love it!

    Have a Great Day!
