Vintage nesting blocks

You may recall my affinity for wooden blocks and bright colors. These are no exception. A friend gave me these nesting blocks before I had my first baby because she had a feeling I'd like them. Good call! Knowing, though, that we wouldn't need them for at least a few months, I arranged them on a cute little shelf in her bedroom and there they've sat collecting dust since. I decided it was time to dust them off, show them off, and actually play with them.
The decal images are fun and have retained their bright color. I would love to showcase each individual image but that would require too many pictures, even for me. I detailed of couple of the quirkiest ones above: the gnome (he appears in at least 4 of the decals) medicating a sick bird and a smoking hedgehog.

  1. Fun! Apparently the gnome also plays the upright bass?
Did your kids make the arrangement with the animals, or was that your photogenic eye? I'm always interested to see how different people play with these simple, basic toys. There probably really are dozens of ways to use them. Thanks for taking them off the shelf & showing them to us!

  3. What a treasure! We have some that are cardboard (obviously pale in comparison to those!) but I love all of the things you can do with them! They make great garages, beds, pretend rooms, places to carry things about... Wow. I still can't get over how great those are!

  4. Those are adorable. I got a set of the stiff cardboard ones for Courtney, and she loves them... but yours are so much cuter and will no doubt outlast the cardboard ones!

    Notice I'm ignoring your ice cream post. Or trying to! I can't... I can't... I can't!!!! ;-)
