Painted picture frames

My husband had a good idea for holiday gifts from the kids this year. Hand-painted picture frames. This is really such an easy project and so cute. We simply had the kids paint their frames, but you could also glue on painted shapes, letters, etc. The unfinished frames were super cheap at Michael's and come in a variety of sizes. Just go to town with the acrylics, coat with gloss medium and insert your babes' faces. Voila! A nice homemade gift for family or friends for any occasion, really.

  1. Super cute! Could you use Modge Podge to cover or do you have to use the acrylic medium? I am new to all this cool crafting (my MOPS leader is a crazy crafter) and a little behind the times in all the mediums, etc.

  3. Carmel,
Yes, you could use Mod Podge, it just didn't occur to me at the time. That stuff is very multi-purpose.

  7. You could sell these as designer photo frames, especially the first one. You're always doing such cool crafts with the kids.

  8. Who wouldn't love a picture of the kids in a frame that the kids painted.
And children are always so proud to give something they have made.
    Thanks for the idea!

  10. Lovely, we did these as Mother's day gifts for my mom and my MIL when the Frog Princess was 24 months old, I may have to repeat it this year with both girls as a joint gift. Great post! I may have to use it as a link if I re-do this project in May.
