Vintage Frank Asch

I am so glad my parents kept some of our old children's books. This gives my children something "new" to read when we visit and allows me a nice trip down memory lane. Once in a while, we bring one of the old books home with us.
Sand Cake by Frank Asch was mine as a child (my name is written inside in my mother's young handwriting) and has made our apartment its home for a while. I love this book because I remember it from my childhood, because it's fun to read (you can't say that about all kids' books), and because my daughter has been reading it every day for a while now. It seems to be out of print, but I would definitely make it a library read.
We've also been enjoying the other Frank Asch books pictured above: Popcorn and MacGoose's Grocery (both out of print). I remember MacGoose's Grocery and still enjoy it with the kids. Popcorn is new to us, but also a fun read. I think we'll check out some other Frank Asch books next time we visit the library.

It's special to revisit the wonderful books of childhood, on so many levels. What a blessing it is to read them to my grandchildren & warmly remember reading them to my daughters!

Very good books for children. Popcorn was one of my favorites as a child. I am slightly upset that they are out of print now as we completely destroyed, with love of course, our book growing up so my parents got rid of them.

We have 'Popcorn' - one of my books from childhood. I loved it (still do, actually!), but Hubby thinks it's a silly book. I say that's just because he didn't first read it as a child!

I'm so fortunate that my parents passed a lot of our books on to younger cousins, who've now passed them back to me for my daughter!

Popcorn was one of my favorite books around first grade. I remember getting a burn from a hot glue gun making a book report or something for that book, gluing popcorn on to a shoe. I made some other school project for that book, too.

Oh my gosh. I remember reading Popcorn when I was little and I'd been wanting to read it to my daughters, but couldn't remember the title. Thank you! Now I need to see if the library has it!

One thing that I don't like about those short stories. it is that they make the characters so stupid.
